The LJUNDERWEAR Story — From a Nightgown Question to a Trusted Period Underwear Manufacturer
What began with one family’s experience of overnight leakage became a certified period underwear factory serving more than 500 brand partners across 28 countries. This is the story of how Sunny Sun built LJUNDERWEAR around verified materials, flexible production, and products designed for women’s real lives.
LJUNDERWEAR factoryThe beginning
The Question That Built This Factory
In 2015, Sunny Sun watched a family member — a working mother of two — wake to another nightgown ruined by overnight period leakage. It was not a product defect or a laundry mistake. It was an ordinary experience millions of women managed quietly.
Why isn’t there something better?
Sunny was already running a small shapewear workshop in Gurao Town, Shantou: six sewing machines, several experienced workers, and orders for domestic brands. She saw not only a product gap, but a manufacturing gap. Brands wanted to create better period underwear, yet generic materials, missing test data, and high minimum orders kept capable founders from getting started.
LJUNDERWEAR was born as a response to that real, private moment — with the ambition to build the kind of factory Sunny herself would want to find as a period-care brand founder.
The pivot
Why Period Underwear — The Pivot Story
Early manufacturing years2015–2017
LJUNDERWEAR did not begin in period care. From 2015 to 2017, the workshop made shapewear, latex waist trainers, and activewear. The team grew from 6 to 20 people, revenue passed RMB 10 million, and the company became an Alibaba International Gold Supplier with a top-three position in shapewear.
By 2018, three signals made the next direction clear.
Buyer demand changed
International DTC brands, many founded by women, began sourcing period underwear as a core category rather than a secondary product line.
The quality bar rose
Buyers needed engineered multi-layer gussets, documented 15–100 ml absorbency, OEKO-TEX certified materials, and verifiable PFAS-free claims.
Regulation tightened
EU REACH requirements and US state-level PFAS restrictions made fiber-level compliance and supply-chain documentation essential.
By 2021, 22 sewing lines had been reconfigured for period care, with a dedicated R&D team and internal testing center. Development cycles moved from months to weeks. In 2022, the factory became an Amazon Gold Seller in period underwear and registered its USPTO trademark (Reg. No. 6,378,310).
Product philosophy
The Product Philosophy — Comfort, Health, Safety
Every period underwear product that leaves the LJUNDERWEAR factory is built on three principles. They are engineering constraints that shape material decisions, quality-control checkpoints, and certification priorities.
Comfort — Engineered Beyond Softness
Multi-layer gusset structures balance 15–100 ml absorbency, liquid retention under compression, breathability, and a discreet appearance under clothing. Moisture-wicking face fabric, the absorbent core, and the waterproof TPU membrane are tested as one system. Current materials include TENCEL™ Lyocell, OCS-certified organic cotton, and GRS-compliant recycled nylon.
Health — Certified Materials, Transparent Development
LJUNDERWEAR holds OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I certification (No. 26.HCN.12213), issued by Hohenstein in Germany and applicable to finished period underwear. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Eurofins PFAS testing, and Intertek ESG documentation can be reviewed on the About Us page.
Safety — Verified by Independent Labs
Eurofins tested the TPU waterproof membrane against more than 45 PFAS compounds, with all results returning non-detect or pass (Report EFW726020391, February 2026). Every production batch follows AQL 2.5 sampling, and the independent QC team can stop any shipment that does not meet specification.

Our Founder — Sunny Sun
Sunny founded LJUNDERWEAR in 2015 after a family member’s struggle with overnight leakage exposed the gap between what period-care brands wanted to create and what existing factories could deliver.
She built the company around one standard: every material claim must be supported by a verifiable lab report, and every order — whether 50 pieces or 50,000 — must meet the same quality bar. Today, she leads a team of 200+ across Shenzhen and Shantou, overseeing R&D, compliance, and client partnerships.
Material transparency should not be a premium feature.

Frequently asked questions
About the LJUNDERWEAR Story
How did LJUNDERWEAR get started?
LJUNDERWEAR was founded in 2015 in Shantou, China, after founder Sunny Sun was moved by a family moment: a mother’s nightgown ruined by overnight period leakage. Starting as a 6-person shapewear workshop, the team pivoted to period care after recognizing that brands needed a manufacturing partner combining certified materials, transparent testing, and low minimum order quantities.
What makes LJUNDERWEAR different from other period underwear manufacturers?
Three things set LJUNDERWEAR apart: independent third-party verification, including OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I, Eurofins PFAS testing, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Intertek ESG documentation; a low-MOQ model from 50 pieces with 7-day sampling and 25–45 day bulk turnaround; and full-service OEM/ODM support from tech pack review and material sourcing to FBA preparation and DDP shipping. Detailed certification documentation is available on the About Us page.
